How to Start a Blog (Even If You’re Shy or Don’t Want to Show Your Face)

You absolutely can start a blog without showing your face. There are a ton of content creators who post content all day long without ever showing themselves.
Here is are some steps you can take to get started.

Step 1: Choose a Niche You’re Comfortable With
Make sure you are able to choose a blog niche.
For example, it could be in the following categories:
Health
Digital Marketing
Finance
Travel

There are endless possibilities. However, if you are the type of person who doesn’t want to show yourself, avoid topics that require you to.
For instance, if you are a health coach and plan to create an entire blog of your workouts, most likely you will have to show your face.

Step 2: Pick a Blog Name (You Can Stay Anonymous)
Your blog doesn’t have to be your name. Come up with several ideas of website names that include your niche or relate to it.
Some of the choices you choose for a blog name may already be taken.
Two websites where you can purchase your blog name at a low rate are
• Porkbun
• Namecheap

Step 3: Get Hosting + Domain
Some hosting platforms offer domain purchases, but I highly recommend purchasing the domain before.
When you choose a hosting platform, you want to select the best one that satisfies your needs.
• Price
• Speed
• Ease of Access
Some of the platforms I’ve used are:
• BlueHost
• Hostinger
• Siteground
A lot of hosts’ websites incorporate or give the option for WordPress.
Think growth, full control, and unlimited potential.

Step 4: Choose a Simple Design
To start your blog, you can use a free theme template. The content you post matters more than the design.
You can always upgrade your blog theme later.
Pick out your brand colors and fonts.
Keep it simple for yourself.

Step 5: Create Essential Pages

Create your pages. You can create by starting off with the basics.
Home: An overview of your website.
About: Describe the purpose of your website.
Blog- You can break up your blog page into subsections that relate to your chosen niche.
Contact—You input a form; people can submit their messages to you or your email address.

Step 6: Research
Do a Google search and find out what people are searching for in your niche.
This will allow you to figure out the keywords you want to use. Check out my other post on what resources you can use for keywords.

Step 7: Write Your First Blog Post
Once you have your keyword, write your post. Focus on giving your audience results.
Make sure you don’t overstuff your blog post with keywords.

Step 8: Publish Consistently (No Camera Needed)
Be consistent in how many blog posts you schedule each month.
Include:
Free stock images
Your own pictures
Graphics
All text posts
You can include videos without showing your face.

Step 9: Promote Without Showing Yourself

Grow your blog. Here are some ways to do that:
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Pinterest
Post on writing forums
Social media without showing your face

Step 10: Make Money

The main thing you want to do is get consistent traffic.
You want to be able to make passive income from your blog.
Figure out how you want to go about monetizing your website.

Final Thoughts
The key is to start. It doesn’t matter if it isn’t perfect, but starting and showing up makes all the difference.
Show up for yourself!
